| I am an AOL user and am getting an "Invalid Archive" or "Truncated Zip file" error |
|
There seems to be a problem using AOL to download and extract zip files
and unfortunately it is still not clear what causes the problem.
Here are some suggestions offered by AOL users:
Suggestion #1: Manually launch Internet Explorer instead of using AOL to launch IE for you. Follow the IE download instructions. Suggestion #2: Make sure you save the .exe or .zip as a file to your hard disk (see the IE download instructions); do not let AOL automatically unzip the file for you. |

What do I do if I see the message "Error During Move Data Process -113"? |
|
The solution is to delete the WZSE*.TMP folder displayed in the error messsage. You should then restart Windows to make sure the temporary files were deleted. For example, if you see the message An error occurred during the move data process -113. Component: File Group: File C:\Windows\temp\WZSEO.tmp\data1.cab You should use Windows Explorer to delete the folder called WZSE0.tmp that is located in in the C:\Windows\temp folder. Next (this is important!) shut down Windows and restart Windows to make sure the temporary files were removed. (If you can't locate the WZSE0.tmp folder, it probably already got deleted automatically so all you need to do is shut down and restart Windows.) Then try installing Shorthand. again. |
| How to manually install Shorthand without using SETUP.EXE |
|
If you cannot get the install program to work, you can manually copy the Shorthand files to your computer. Please note that you should follow the procedure below only if you absolutely cannot get the Shorthand SETUP.EXE installation program to work--the SETUP.EXE program does some useful things such as create desktop shortcuts and prevent overwriting existing Shorthand word lists so please be very careful when following the procedure below: STEP 1: Download one of the following self-extracting zip files: If you have Windows 95, 98 or Me, download: sh870b-image95.exe (size: 1.4Mb) If you have Windows NT, 2000 or XP, download: sh870b-imageNT.exe (size: 1.4Mb) STEP 2: On your computer, run the self-extracting zip file you downloaded from Step 1. IMPORTANT: It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED you unzip the files to an empty folder. The zip file contains an exact image of the files that would have been installed on your computer by the SETUP.EXE program. STEP 3: Start Shorthand by running the SH8.EXE file in the Shorthand folder (the Shorthand folder is C:\SH870B unless you unzipped the files to another folder). |
